Day 111

I live with musical dorks. I found this note on my door. I laughed my ass off. And may have written one back. From George Crumb.

Day 109

So long as I'm at my Mom's house where my piano is, I figure I should practice. So that's what I've been doing. A lot. Every day. I found a few scale/technique/whatever books and I have no idea where they came from. Just found them in my boxes of music, so I warm up with them. I noticed two cut out pieces of newspaper stuck in this one. The articles didn't make sense and were cut up. So I flipped them over to see what was on the other side. It was Jesus. And Mary. Not sure what they were doing there...

Day 108

I did Easter again this year at IUP. There weren't as many orphans this year and there was an earlier studio dinner so there weren't as many people as last year, but it was still fun. I got paper plates. After last year I learned my damn lesson. I spent all morning making dinner, finished it right as everyone was walking in the door, ate for about 2 minutes, then started doing dishes because we ran out and had nothing to eat on or with for dessert. SO - lesson learned. Paper plates, plastic cups, and fuck the environment. I managed to finish everything almost all at the same time, within about 5 or 10 minutes. Tiff had some fun with the plates when she got back (she was at her parent's house for dinner). I made a last minute trip to the market and spotted this easter bunny cake wreck. The picture does not capture the true horror.

Day 107

This was taken at one of the Johnstown competitions. I lol'd because at the time, this looked like a little cartoon Dre in a dress (his hair was getting big).

Day 106

This is driving me insane. Somewhere alone the line, my days got screwed up. I have one blank, pictureless entry on this. So today is day one hundred six, meaning it should be my 107th post. HOWEVER, it's my 108th. I've gone back to the 80s trying to sort it out and so far I can't figure out where I went wrong. This will torture me until I find my error. *EDIT* - found it. Had a draft saved by accident which was being counted as a post. All's well again.

This is the mallrat. He and I gave a recital on April 26th, the day after I got back from the orchestra tour (more to come on that). Each of the practice rooms holds an instrument and a collection of two drawer file cabinets. Each file cabinet is owned by a percussionist. It's where we keep... well... whatever. Mine has a bunch of music, my mallets on top, my met, basically whatever I need quickly and don't have time to run downstairs for (downstairs is where our lockers are). My cabinet, along with 9 others, are in this room - the ringaphone room. So named because it houses that ringaphone (seen behind mallrat). We have trashcans in our rooms because we're messy and we need them. We do not have trash cans in there so we can throw out our condoms after having shady practice room sex. Now you understand Mallrat's disapproving, yet curious, glare at this discarded (empty?) condom we found in the ringaphone room trash can.

Ladies and gentlemen
Of the cogswell high class of 1999
I have one piece of advice for you
No matter what a percussionst tells you
There is no sex in the ringaphone room
NONE
Oh, there's a ringaphone in the ringaphone room
But you don't want a ringaphone
You want sex
And there's no sex in the ringaphone room

aaaaaaaaaaand a million points if you know what I'm talking about here.
